adventures

in case you haven't heard...

Kimball got a job in Chicago!
For now we'll be there just for the summer and then possibly be returning after I finish up school next April!!
We leave June 10th so we have a little bit of summer to relax in provo before we're taking off but we are both ecstatic for the opportunity and the new adventure.
After our time is up in Chicago we're heading to North Carolina with Kimball's family to hit the Outer Banks before heading back to Provo for one last year of school.

So if you need me look for the girl who looks like this..

(yes, i am wearing a swimsuit, do not fear)

Can't wait for our summer adventures! And to have a break from school for the first real summer I've had since the 8th grade!
because i am blessed.

if you know of any hot spots, must see's or hafta do's in chicago let me know!

bicycle rides

bicycles

the sunny weather
has got me thinking about
bike rides.

last spring and summer
my wonderful friend
jasmine and i
used to go on bike rides
daily..sometimes hourly.

i am so thrilled
spring is almost here!

i've been jotting down a list of things
i want to do more of and things i want to learn.

i'm trying to think of things beyond the norm of summer happenings.

what are you doing this summer?
suggestions?

because i am blessed.

hello, little elephant

see that elephant? i want it.
not to buy it, i want to sew it so i can use any adorable fabric i can get my hands on.
every time i go to etsy i find something i want to know how to arrange, sew or create.
i love lovely little things that brighten my day :)
because i am blessed.

they're back.

they're back. my friends, my beloved summer is coming.
and how do i know?
because the blackberries are here.
upon every visit to our grocery store i feel anticipated misery as i know when i check
for blackberries they will not only be extremely over inflated in price but they will not be ready, not juicy and ready to burst like blackberries should look.
but this morning, something was different.
the blackberries were ready. AND on sale!!!
so of course we got two containers
and i smiled all the while home.
we decided to make what kimball calls "big breakfast"
i usually add comments along with each picture but for today i thought i would just let my blackish blueish purpleish friends do the talking. enjoy

the last tasted as sweet as the first.

most of you are probably incredibly confused at my fascination with blackberries. reading this will clear things up a bit :)
i love big breakfast
and i love blackberries.

tell me, friends, what is your love? raspberries? granny smiths? avocado?
please share :)

because i am blessed.

the kimball dictionary.

i have the best husband.
ever.

this morning was sort of stressful..well at least i made this morning sort of stressful.
you know those mornings that you are flustered but have no idea why?
that was this morning.

but kimball, being wonderful, was as sweet as ever and didn't question my sanity though he probably wanted to
that is just one reason i have the best husband ever

the second (among thousands) reason he is the best husband ever
is because he leaves me the cutest notes in the cutest places!

like today..
i have a test that i'm sort of nervous about and after the melt down this morning
he knew i would need a little extra lovin'
so when i wasn't in the room he snuck this note card into my big pile i had made for my test,
knowing i would review them before going into the testing center

this is the front of the flash card...
and here is his definition of me :)
yup, best husband ever.

how can i do horrible on the test now?
because i am blessed.

my midnight drive.

kimball was supposed to fly in on friday night at 11.
i was supposed to leave to pick him up from flying in on friday night at 10.
i got a call at 9 saying his connecting flight was delayed.
one more night without my husband?
i was sad :(
he would now be getting in around 1 am.
so..wait at home while he gets in at 1 and takes a taxi that will not only get him home super late
but cost an arm and a leg
or go get him myself..
in the snow....
so at 1210am i took off for slc.
the snow wasn't bad at all until about 20 minutes away
but those big trucks with the yellow lights that force everyone to slow down during storms came on the i-15 and saved me from looking like a fool going 15 under the speed limit.
i made it to the airport alive and drove home with my hubby :)
the snow was pretty bad on the way home but luckily kimball is a great snow driver
so happy to have a husband again :)
because i am blessed.

no more little miss arizona girl

prepare to be proud.
me, an arizona girl, has done the unthinkable
(now don't laugh..i'm truly proud)

kimball is out of town and we had a HUGE snow storm last night.
i, being spoiled, have never had to deal with snow.
so you can imagine my initial disdain when i found our car COVERED in snow
and our 30 foot driveway also, covered in snow!

so i got our "snow car kit" from the car and began to work.
then i got the shovel and shoveled the whole driveway.
40 minutes later i was backing up into bumper to bumper traffic on our street!
luckily someone was nice and stopped to let me in :)

miraculously, i found a close parking spot on campus!

i know it's silly but i was very proud of myself.

so here is the car halfway through the de-snowing process
(i didn't think to take a picture until i had already started,
but you can use your imagination)
i got to school just in time to miss my first class (even though i left half an hour early)
so i went to the bathroom to wipe off the smudges of mascara all over my eye lids
(don't you love it when snow does that?)
i couldn't help but take a couple *myspace* pictures while i was there.

like i said...i was proud of myself.
i especially love my fabulous 1960's coat
-special thanks to my mother for finding and tailoring this beautiful thing-
now that i'm looking at the outfit i'm realizing almost nothing of this was picked out by me..
beanie: my brother braden
coat, boots, shirt and bag: my mother
warm, adorable, fashionable gloves: my mother in law
cardigan (that you can't see): my husband
but i did pick out the pants (target for $13--rock on).
another fun fact- hair curls when it gets wet.
well at least mine does.
i had straightened my hair that morning but evidently that was a waste of my time
(don't get me wrong, i like my curly hair but it's not so beautiful when it's frizzy from snow and wind)
just a view from the jfsb :)
though the timing wasn't wonderful, i really do like snow
(sometimes.)
kimball gets home tonight (hurray!)
but my little adventure without him was fun and helped me to realize
i'm not a little arizona girl anymore :)
because i am blessed.
