just walking down the street.

Major construction issues? Nope, chalk. How amazingly beautiful and crazy is this?
I remember as a little girl going to Mexico and seeing people doing oil paintings and chalk drawings on the ground. It always amazed me how realistic the artists were able to make their scenes with such limited materials. What I would give to have such a talent! Maybe someday (when i'm not being completely owned by school) I'll pretend I can paint and fool around a bit :)
Follow the link attached with the photo credit and see how this one was done!

Note to self: add "find a 3D chalk drawing and stare in awe" to bucket list.

Hope the week is going swimmingly!
p.s. speaking of swimming, i finally got around to hand washing my swimsuits yesterday (i know i know it took me forever, don't judge) and  hate that i'm dying to go swimming and it's not even FEBRUARY yet! sigh, i can wait...i can wait...i can wait......

five guys and not so brilliant refs.

We had a glorious weekend of very little homework and lots and lots of play. Our Saturday consisted of 6 am rehearsal followed by an hour long "nap", if you can call sleeping at 8am on a Saturday a nap, some errands, a jazz and dance concert (amazing), costco run, five guys and finally a very sad basketball game.

I'm tempted to go into dets about this bball game but feel it would be better if I give but a brief overview instead. So here it is, the refs were paid. That's all there is to it. No, I'm joking (sort of). It was one of those games where more fouls were called than shots were made, ridiculous. You know it's a bad call when they play the replay and everyone is sitting there gawking at an extremely huge screen with a slowed down shot of the supposed "foul" from every angle and still NO ONE can figure out how it possibly could've been a foul!

Anyway, our boys fought well and walked away tall despite the loss.
Kimball was very disappointed and I'm sure the girls sitting in front of us were beyond annoyed as he yelled onto the court and I whistled to high heaven every time St. Mary went for a free throw (yes, we are those fans). I constantly remind Kimball to be grateful that he married a woman who loves sports, he smiles and tells me he is :) All in all it was a marvelous weekend and it did it's job in rejuvenating us for the week ahead!

I'm feeling a good week coming on! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and happy Monday!

p.s. five guys fans, do you not LOVE that the extra scoop of fries in every bag? bless you five guys for providing us with all the grease we'll ever need.

snow man & snow woman.

We made snow people..
sort of.

We were so excited when it finally snowed and stuck and decided it was high time to make some snow people. Unfortunately, it rained a bit after it snowed and a night of nothing left the snow a bit crunchy. I had never made a snow person before (don't judge, I'm an Arizona girl) so I was a bit over optimistic as we started out but I was sure we'd be able to make fine looking snow people.
I was brought to a realistic mindset very quickly as we scooped all the snow from our backyard to find it was barely enough for a snow person bottom. Plan B! We made baby snow people :) We chiseled little noses out of the huge carrot we had set aside and used baby pebbles for the rest of the face. No scarf and hat for these snow babies but they were cute nonetheless.
It snowed again last night so we're hoping to get a consistently white winter! I'm very excited for Kimball as his final season of Utah skiing will be a success after all!!

we heart scrabble.

We cheat.
we use use the dictionary far too many times,
use triple word etc every time instead of just once,
show each other our letters when we're stuck,
switch out letters more than we should
and take off words that are just messing up the board whenever we feel like it :)

But we love scrabble!

p.s. made great organizational strides! pretty proud of my thriftiness, pictures soon!

big people...almost.

Today is the beginning of the end. That sounds pretty dramatic doesn't it? It's the first day of the last semester of our time here at Brigham Young University. I'm about half way through my day of classes and I keep thinking it'll hit that we wont be here for much longer but it hasn't. Maybe at the end of the semester? Or when we actually leave? Who knows! But I'm determined to enjoy our Provo as much as possible in the next few months!! As I went through my photos to find a picture for this post I realized I how hard it was to just find one! We loove it here in Provo, there is so much to do, so much to explore and so many people to meet that it makes it impossible to not love. The summer is warm and great for me and my love of all things hot and swimming and the winters are cold and snowy for Kimball to ski and enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited to move to Chicago but we will definitely miss Utah and its diversity of activities we can enjoy here. BYU has been nothing but an amazing experience of growth in literally every sense of the word. I can talk all day about how much I love BYU and Provo but the real point of this blog post is my realization that we'll be big people soon! People who don't go to school and have real jobs and live in real homes in non-college town cities. It's going to be weird and exciting and wonderful and a little intimidating all at once and I feel completely ready for it. I'm so grateful for the pictures and journal entries and blog posts I've done for our years here at BYU to remember the fun we've had. Jdawgs will forever be the hot dog joint that changed my mind about polish dogs, Stans will probably always have the best soft serve (in my mind), nickelcades will always be compared to Nickel City (and will most likely never live up to it) Provo Bakery will always be the place I think of when I eat a raspberry roll, the dollar theatre will never be beat and the canyon will always be our prime spot to go stargazing. There are so many other things we'll remember from the pictures we took and the things we've written down. But I'm ecstatic to move on and make more memories, take more pictures and write more hilarious or difficult or strengthening happenings. I have one more semester to be a little person and the rest of my life to pretend to be a big one :) Thank goodness I have a husband who loves me enough to help me know how to act big but is okay with me remaining little. (forever).

So as The Refreshments so wisely sang, "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

this picture was taken up in the canyon the day before kimball proposed :)
just one of the many wonderful memories forever captured.

hello twenty-twelve

We welcomed in the new year with some of our favorite friends, Jordan&Michelle and Zac&Katelyn! The mall close to our house threw a fabulous party that was extremely fun and family friendly (no dealing with drunk people, whoo hoo!!) Hubs and I picked up some fun hats and noise makers to make the night a little more ridiculous and we danced and laughed and made extremely obnoxious noises with our toys until the countdown began (and for a while after it was over :)) I am so grateful for fun friends who make our lives so enjoyable!

Anyone excited about their resolutions?! I am! Here are a few..
1.yoga every morning
2.participate in two races (one here in utah and another later in chicago)
3.read 3 church books that i haven't had a chance to read yet
4.enjoy another year with my wonderful hubs and express my appreciation as often as i think it

Cheers to a new year of love, laughter
and lots of picture taking!!
