Memorial Day.

Not being in school and not having a job
sort of makes every day seem like a weekend.
But we were happy for the "day off" nonetheless :)

Initially some friends had put together a BBQ but with
the amazing weather (sarcasm) that we've been experiencing
plan B was soon put into action.

I was planning on taking some fun
yay-we're-outside-bbqing
photos but considering it was moved inside we settled for
a couple outside our own house.

So welcome to our neighborhood :)
Out in the backyard with our Memorial Day outfits :)
The nasty weather trying to decide if it wants to rain again
We've lived here for about 5 months and have gathered that our
neighbor has the following:
one cow, a couple roosters, chickens, ducks, sheep, and a dog.
Those are the ones we've actually heard so while taking out the trash Kimball decided to see
if we had missed any other animals.
At first I was taking a few pictures over the fence
but then I felt extremely creeper-ish.
This one is just because
I have the cutest husband ever.

So welcome to South Provo people!
We also live across the street from a cemetery
(not as creepy as you would suspect)
and yesterday every grave had flowers and a flag,
quite a sight :)

because i am blessed.

what to do

i need a haircut, something different
but i get so nervous just thinking about it!
i've always had long hair and i've always loved it
i donated about 15 inches a couple years ago and DIED
when it didn't grow right back

but now i'm realizing that my face sort of calls for a shorter do
(i have some chubby cheek issues..)
i also hate having the same hair as everyone in america
but i don't wanna go too crazy and chop it all off again and regret it

i hate making this decision :(
and i hate that i'm feeling this tug to cut my hair
right before summer starts!
you're supposed to have long hair in the summer it's like...a rule or something

so..should i chop it, trim a few inches off or leave it?
i've posted about this before months ago and, like promised, i'm still debating.
BUT i'm getting my hair cut before chicago so i only have 2 weeks to decide now!

so i'll do what i do best, make a list.
pros:
1.i like long hair.
2.it's easy.
3.i know how to do it (tho i don't always love the way i do it)
4.it's summer!
5.i possibly wont regret it as much if i just leave it the same

cons:
1.everyone has the same hair as me
2.it makes my face look fat (seriously, it does)
3.i can do a lot with it but i always end up doing the same thing because it's long and hard to handle sometimes
4.i need a change and boost of hair confidence
5.i possibly will regret leaving it the same when everytime a picture it taken i realize how chubby my cheeks look.

it's seriously ridiculous how much skinnier my face looks when it's short
and i envy people with short hair who pull it off
but can i give up the long hair?
i feel so lame for being so attached i just know how long it takes to grow back!
(if you've been my friend/roommate/family member for the
last 2 years you know how much i longed for my long hair again)

just tell me what to do.
really though, please

because i am blessed.

black, brown & happiness

great?
i think so.
i love black, grey and brown together
and, if you know me at all, you know i adore gold

just had to share this little ray of sunshine with ya
considering the weather man has still decided that clouds are more "spring-y"

i hope all you non-provo dwelling people are soaking up the sun!
sun bathe an extra hour for me will you?

because i am blessed.

rain rain go away

rain is not my friend sometimes.
like right now.
APRIL showers...
get it right weather man in the sky.

i pray the weather predictor people are
correct and this nastiness will be gone
by wednesday.
i really need the sun back,
i'm going into freak out mode
and i never wanted kimball to have to
witness that.

for now i will spend my days reading books
that i will eventually find out are awful
(ex: how can the first two enders game books
be A-MAZING and the third be so horrid?
i just spent the last couple of days finding
out it is very possible)

curse my inability to read a book
start to finish no matter what
(unless it's scandalous..)

i'm counting down the days
til my blessed sun returns and
our fun chicago life begins :)
until then i will continue to
countdown with (hopefully
better) books and my pilates
instructor from 1987
(thank you at-home
workout vids)

feel free to leave me ideas for
rainy day pleasure!

just like momma!

STRAWBERRY JAM
i couldn't think of a better way to spend an early evening than making homemade strawberry jam
just like my momma while the sun streamed in through our kitchen window.
we finished around 8pm and the sun was still up and shining!

my cute hubby took pictures for me :)

making sure the lids are on tight for me.
it's okay girls, you can drool ;)

and then the dishes...
but oh so worth it!

8 jars of yummy jam to enjoy and give!
(you should be wishing you were my neighbor right now)

so grateful for a momma who taught me how to cook and a husband who
deals with my fanatic photograph taking :)

because i am blessed.

i don't usually tear up books..

one styrofoam wreath
one bottle of brown craft paint
one $1 unromantic dollar store romance novel
one glue gun
and a couple minor burns later....

the beginning.

filling in the gaps.

finished.

this project was really fun and only took a couple of hours!
like i mentioned before i'm all about the crafts that don't have to be perfect and enable you to just mess around until it looks decent.
this is going on our living room wall :)
(pictures soon to come)

i'm so happy i've had time to actually get some decorating done!

because i am blessed.

wanna try?

lady of leisure

no school
no responsibility
all the time in the world=
craft time!!

my mother in law left the cutest message on my phone today
asking what the lady of leisure was up to
it's the perfect way to describe me as of late
with a month left til we move to chicago and no school i have plenty of time

kimball has been teaching me to play tennis, i read out in the sun now that spring has decided to show it's face and i dig through my crafts :) it's the life!
this is the first project (i figured i'd start small)
next i'm attacking our big blank wall in the living room that after 4 months
has still not been dealt with.

i'll post when it's precious!

because i am blessed.

OH! and we found this show called "flashpoint"
it's a canadian show about a swat team
and we've become...attached.
check it out!

happening upon happy things.

i happened upon THE most adorable little store the other day.
my husband and i were driving along state street and i looked over to see a store
that i had never noticed before.
it was not just a store though, it was a great old house made into a store
(my favorite thing about utah)
intrigued i looked it up, thoroughly read its blog
and fell in love.

you NEED to check this out.
i am a complete sucker for crafts that really have no point but can be added onto anything to make it look a trillion times more precious.
and i'm an even bigger sucker for step by step tutorials that help me not feel like an idiot for not knowing how something so great can be produced so simply.

the store is called Pebbles In My Pocket
(i know, just the name deserves the ever-cheesy "aww!")

because i am blessed.
