Mr. & Mrs. Hicks

December 30th 2010
We did it! After nine months of dating and three months of planning and wanting to just be married, the day finally came and it was beautiful. Rain had threatened us the day before but on the morning on the 30th it was clear and crisp (very crisp) but perfect nonetheless. Having family gathered in the temple is one of the most wonderful things on this earth. There is nothing like being surrounded by loved ones as you are sealed to your absolute best friend for time and all eternity. After the sealing we needed to pick up prints for the reception that night; Kimball and I decided we had time to do it ourselves so off to Costco we went (so classy). He, still in his Tux, and me in a different dress with my wedding hair and make up strolled into Costco with the biggest grins on our faces. We picked up the prints and got a berry smoothie (they are soo good) and as we were leaving the receipt checker mentioned that we looked very nice today to which Kimball almost shouted "WE JUST GOT MARRIED!" She looked shocked as she stammered, "today?" Kimball:"yup, like an hour ago!" The receipt checker then shouted to the other receipt checker and everyone in the receipt checking line "They just got married today!!!" We walked out of that Costco store to the roaring sound of applause behind us, smiling :) I definitely married the right guy. During the break before the reception it snowed a bit, which our kids will someday definitely get sick of hearing about. Seeing the reception location for the first time Kimball and I were blown away with how gorgeous it was! Being in Utah during the entire planning process I only told my mom ideas of what I wanted and she carried out everything. I could not have done as well if I were home and planning it; it was beyond perfect and fit the mood of the wedding spot on. The reception was a bit cold, as you could imagine. Luckily, a few weeks prior I decided I really wanted to wear a shawl that night (I figured it would be a little bit cold, but not THAT cold). My mother had a shawl that matched my dress perfectly so I was set for the night. My toes and fingers were frozen by the time the line broke up but we danced for a while and I warmed right up. The guests looked so cute in their coats (the Arizona guests were excited to have a chance to wear coats for a legitimate reason and not just for fashions sake) A week before the wedding my mom mentioned having hot coco, which i said no to. Thank heavens she didn't listen to me because the hot chocolate basically saved everyone from frost bite :) Mothers really do know best. Two and a half weeks later Kimball and I are all settled into our apartment and loving married life. School is going great ( it is so much easier when you married!) We would like to thank everyone for the love and support we received with the wedding and starting our life together. We could not have done any of it with out our wonderful families and our friends along the way. We love you all and are so glad we got to share that day with you.
Because I am blessed.
