For the last 6 months Kimball has been studying for the CFA Exam.
(What the heck is that?- I know)
It's the Chartered Financial Analyst Exam
(yes, it is as ridiculously hard as it sounds)
There are 3 different levels, or tests, to become CFA certified and many jobs
require you to pass all three levels.
Kimball doesn't have much interest in the jobs that require this
but it looks great on a resume
AND
he received a grant from the Marriott School at BYU (because he's crazy-smart like that)
paying the full $12,000 to take the test
and gave us a discount on the study material
(crazy expensive, i know)
This is the breakdown of Level One.
Basically, Kimball is a genius (but really, he is).
He studies anywhere from 3 to 6 hours everyday out of
5 fatty text books that are the "cliff notes" of the actual study material!
A few weeks ago there was a mock exam at BYU that helped the
students see what areas they needed help in and such.
It was exactly like the real exam (and Kimball stressed like it was the real exam)
but he more than passed the test!
Let me explain how big of a deal this is.
To ensure that you pass the test you must earn at least a 70%
sometimes the average goes a little lower and you can pass with a 65%.
The test is administered every 6 months, the last test was in December and the
passing rate was 35%.
Yes, I do mean that only 35% of the ba-gillions of people who took the
exam world-wide passed.
So basically if you get a D you are brilliant.
I'm telling you, my husband is a genius.
He is ONE day away from taking the test and both of us
could not be happier!
The results are not given until the end of the summer
which is sort of a bummer :(
But whatever happens, I'm extremely proud of Kimball
and his dedication and headache-inducing hours of study over the past
6 months.
because i am blessed.
